The
senior spotlight is on ... Clare Flannery!
Unlike her year mates, Clare Flannery
has seen limited competitive action during her first
three years as a Michigan Wolverine. However, her hard
work in the gym over the past three years is paying
off this season, as Clare has competed on the balance
beam in each of the past nine meets. Ironically, her
best meets this season have been at Jenison Field House
at Michigan State, where she posted a career high 9.850
for a share of fourth place on the beam at the 2007
State of Michigan Classic and tied for second on beam
(9.825) in a recent dual meet. She has also seen competitive
action in the vault lineup on four occassions.
Out of the gym, Clare is an English major
in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts.
In anticipation of Senior Night and the upcoming postseason,
we wanted to give you, the fans, an opportunity to reflect
on each of the members of the Wolverine Class of 2007.
Here is a look back at Clare's accomplishments over
the past three years.
Taking a Look Back: 2004-2006
During her freshman year, Clare saw competitive
action on both vault and floor. She earned a 9.375 on
the floor exercise in the first meet of the season.
Later in the season, she was called to compete on the
vault, where she averaged a 9.65 over 6 meets. Her best
meet was vs. Michigan State, where she posted a 9.775
on vault for a share of fourth place.
Clare did not see competitive action in
either her sophomore or junior year.
In the classroom, Clare has earned numerous
accolades for her academic accomplishments, including
a NACGC/W Academic All-American citation (2006) and
an Academic All-Big Ten citation (2006). She is also
a two-time U-M Athletic Academic Achievement Award winner
(2004, 2006).
