Ask the Team (2006 - 2007)
Ask the Team is for our fans to have the opportunity
to ask anyone from the gym family something that is
burning on their mind. Check out these questions from
the 2006-2007 season!
January 27,
2007
Kira from Ann Arbor
asks:
"Will there be a fan club
for teens or for kids over 13 years?"
Coach Bev says:
"We have our regular
booster club membership and we also have our Gymfantry
student fan club. More information on how to join
either group can be found within this site. Thanks."
January 16, 2007
(for Coach Bev)
Jackie from Ann Arbor
asks:
"When can we expect to see
Carol back in the lineup, and would NCAA rules allow
Lindsey to return next years if she chooses?"
Coach Bev says:
"Thanks Jackie for your question.
First of all, yes we expect Carol back in the lineup
fairly soon. Maybe a vault appearance on Friday. We
have been moving very cautiously with her to make sure
her foot is healed. She still has pain, but the fracture
appears to be healed. She will progress with pain as
our guide so to speak. She is VERY motivated to be back
in, so part of it is us holding her back to make sure
she does not return too quickly and that she can handle
the things that she is doing.
Lindsey would be eligible to redshirt
this year since this happened in our first meet of the
season. However, the way it works is that we need to
have a scholarship to give her for a 5th year. We did
sign all 3 of our available scholarships for next year
so unless something else changes we have nothing to
be able to offer her. This is such a hard position to
be in! Lindsey has such a passion for gymnastics and
I hate to see her career end this way, so we will take
it day by day and see how the season plays out. Thanks
for your questions! Go Blue!."
October 15, 2006
Ari from Austin asks:
"What meet this season are
you looking forward to the most?"
Katie says:
"I am looking forward to the
Big Ten Championships the most because I am
excited for our team to show what we are all capable
of doing and to come together and reclaim the Big Ten
title. Also, the Big Ten Championships is always such
an exciting meet and the support of our fans is really
great."
October 3, 2006
Brittany from Miami
asks:
"Hi everyone. Girls, how
do you feel about having five new teammates?"
Tachi says:
"I love having the five new
girls on our team. Although it was sad to lose the seniors,
our freshmen are great. They are all hard workers and
talented athletes and have contributed so much already.
They come into gym with positive attitudes and they
are ready to help whenever needed. It's crazy because
our whole team feels different this year because the
freshman class make up almost half of the team! But
they are excited for the season and I can already tell
we will have a great year!"
October 2, 2006
Kaci from Maryland
asks:
"What level do you have
to be to get into (Michigan)?"
Head Coach Bev says:
"We do not have a 'required'
level. However, we recruit mostly from the upper group
of level 10's and Elite gymnasts. Lots of college programs
do recruit starting at upper end level 9's and 10's.
It just depends on what school you are looking at and
the level of their program. Thanks for your question.."
