Q & A - About Gymnastics and U-M

Why do you like doing gymnastics?   I like doing gymnastics because it is a challenging sport and the overall experience of doing gymnastics makes you a better person.
What is your favorite event or routine? Why?   My favorite event to compete would have to be floor, because you get to show off your floor routine. However, my favorite event to work out on is beam because you can work and play around with all different kinds of skills on this event.

What attracted you to the University of Michigan?   What attracted me to Michigan is everything it has to offer. The prestigious reputation, education, and of course, the awesome athletic program Michigan has above all the other Universities. The team was also a major factor that attracted me to Michigan because of how close the girls are. They're like family and that's what I love about the team.
What has been your most memorable gymnastics moment at Michigan?   Every day at the gym has been my most memorable gymnastics moment here at Michigan, because something new happens every day. Having the chance to wrok out in this wonderful gym with 13 other amazing gymnasts is so awesome. Plus, the whole team atmosphere is just unbelieveable.

What has been your biggest challenge/obstacle in gym or college (or both)? How did your overcome this challenge?   One of the challenges I have encountered adjusting to college gymnastics training is the different type of conditioning. We do these kettle bell exercises that work really well, but it’s just a different kind of exercise than the normal conditioning I’m used to doing. I like it a lot though; it’s a good conditioning exercise.
What has been your most embarrassing moment in the gym (ever)?   I've had so many that they're not even embarrassing anymore...lol! I actually can't think of one, but if I do I will post it up!
What goes through your head immediately before a routine?   I go through a mental routine, repeat a few words that my coach tells me, and tell myself to relax, stay confident, and don't hold back.

What advice would you share with up-and-coming Michigan gymnasts?   Believe in yourself, work hard, and never give up. Have these three things set in your head and you can accomplish anything. College gymnastics at Michigan is awesome! Enjoy every moment of it. GO BLUE!!!
What is your favorite part of the gym meets?   Performing my routines and cheering for my teammates.
Other than Michigan, where is your favorite place to compete and why?

What is the most interesting person that you've met at UM and why?     This is a tough one, but I've narrowed my list down to two people: Becky and Tachi!! Besides having Becky as my teammate, she is also now my apartment mate. We were roommates our freshman year and decided to live together again our sophomore year. Becky's a great person, very down to earth, and sometimes a little crazy! haha...or should I say only crazy when we have our craziness moments. Let me tell ya...Becky and I singing songs from the Moulin Rouge is pretty amazing...LOL!! Tachi is the other most interesting person that I've met at UM. Tachi is very poised and an amazing person. Every time when we're together, we always come up with the most outrageous dances and sayings, such as "feelin the vibe" and the ultimate pommel horse dance! I always have a great time when I'm hanging out with Becky and Tachi. They are both wonderful and talented young ladies. I'm so grateful to have them both in my class.
What is the worst exam that you've taken?   Extreme weather exam.
