Q & A - About Gymnastics and U-M

Why do you like doing gymnastics?   I like gymnastics because it is challenging. Every day I go into the gym, there is an obstacle waiting for me that I must overcome, and when I do, it is one of the greatest feelings.
What is your favorite event or routine? Why?   Balance beam, because no matter where I compete, a beam will always be a beam, so I don't have to worry about adjusting to the equipment.

What attracted you to the University of Michigan?   Everything! Great academics, great athletics, the tradition, the team, the coaches, the campus ... Michigan has everything to offer.
What has been your most memorable gymnastics moment at Michigan?   The first day I got to practice was pretty amazing. When I got to warm up with my teammates, I looked around our gym, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride.

What has been your most embarrassing moment in the gym (ever)?
What goes through your head immediately before a routine?   I usually have a mixture of nerves and adrenaline, so I try and take deep breaths to relax myself. I say a prayer, and then I go through the skills in my head.

What advice would you share with up-and-coming Michigan gymnasts?   Dream big, work hard. Anything is possible!
What is your favorite part of the gym meets?   March In, when everyone is cheering, I just can't wait to go out there and get started.
Other than Michigan, where is your favorite place to compete and why?   Somewhere close to home so my family can watch ...I'm really looking forward to having a meet in my hometown senior year.

What is the most interesting person that you've met at UM and why?   Lisa Hass, because I have already gotten to know her really well. She's a fun lady with a lot of wisdom!

Q & A - About You Personally

What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?
That when I got to Michigan, I had a huge cyst on my wrist that I had to get surgically removed because it wouldn't go away even though I had it drained twice.

How would your teammates describe you?
Caring, driven, motivated

Who is one of your role models and why?
My parents, because they have been so supportive, and have always encouraged me to reach for my dreams.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I have been thinking about it a lot, but I am not quite sure yet.

Besides gymnastics, what is one thing that you do well?
Shop.

If you were given $431,718 how would you spend it?
I would invest half, and then use the other half to take my family on a vacation to the Bahamas.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Fly! So I could travel home to see my family whenever I want to.

What’s the best way to show your Michigan spirit?
Wear Maize and Blue to all sporting events.

Since beginning college one thing I’ve learned is that…
There is a whole world of opportunity just waiting for you to embrace it.

If you could only listen to one song from now on, what would it be?
Too many good ones out there to choose from.

Have you ever held a job? If so, what?
I worked as a hostess last summer at O'Malleys and McGee's, and also for my neighbor Jack, who owns and operates an independent baseball business.
