Q & A - About Gymnastics and U-M

Why do you like doing gymnastics?   I love the feeling you get when you compete well. And also when you do a really hard skill, just like wow, I did that.
What is your favorite event or routine? Why?   Floor, because I can go hard for my tumbling passes and then show off in the dance parts.

What attracted you to the University of Michigan?   The campus, the amazing gym and school, and of course, the team.
What has been your most memorable gymnastics moment at Michigan?   So far, my locker with my name on it.

What has been your biggest challenge/obstacle in gym or college (or both)? How did your overcome this challenge?   It was hard for me to adjust to having new coaches and to go to school (I've been home schooled for the past 6 years) but the team is always there when I need them.
What has been your most embarrassing moment in the gym (ever)?   Haha! Well, I was doing a shoot-over and after I caught the low bar, I jumped down and kept my body really tight so I wouldn't arch my back. I started to run backwards not realizing how close the trench bar hole was, and I just fell in! It wasn't really embarassing as it was funny.
What goes through your head immediately before a routine?   I get really nervous in competition, because I want to do my routines exactly how I've been practicing them. So I just tell myself to go for it and show off.

What advice would you share with up-and-coming Michigan gymnasts?   Feel special to be a part of the amazing Michigan tradition. Your name on your locker, the team picture on the wall, so many people look up to what you do and you don't realize that until you come here.
What is your favorite part of the gym meets?   It will probably be winning, but I think running under the giant "M" will be exciting

Q & A - About You Personally

What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?
I was born in Canada, and I can act really odd at times.

How would your teammates describe you?
Dramatic.

Who is one of your role models and why?
.My sister. She worked so hard to get into NYU, and after being there for only a week, 9/11 happened and she didn't even consider going home.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I would like to own my own business of some sort. I've always enjoyed taking charge of situations and selling things, so I figured that I might be good at that!

Besides gymnastics, what is one thing that you do well?
I'm creative. I love making stuff..

If you were given $431,718 how would you spend it?
I would buy a car, and then give some to my family and to my gym back home.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
To fly.

What’s the best way to show your Michigan spirit?
Wear all of your Michigan clothing to every sporting event and learn all of the sports cheers, no matter how crazy (hockey ... hehe).

Since beginning college one thing I’ve learned is that…
Sleep is overrated.

Who is the most interesting person you've met at UM and why?
Lisa Hass, our trainer. I could just sit and listen to her talk and it would be the most entertaining thing I'd done all day. Also, Greg Harden is so positive and happy that it's inspiring.

What is the worst exam you've taken so far?
Movement Science.

Have you ever held a job?
I was a beginners, advanced, and pre-team gymnastics coach.

If there was one country in the world you could travel to, where would it be?
Brazil or Cuba.

If you could only listen to one song from now on, what would it be?
Blink 182: What's my age again?

If there was one thing you wish you were better at, what would it be?
I wish I could sing or play the guitar.
