Our Coaches and Staff

Bev Plocki, Head Coach, 19th Year
University of Michigan head coach Beverly Plocki begins her 19th season at the helm of the women's gymnastics program aiming for the program’s first NCAA title. She inherited a program that hadn’t finished better than fifth at the Big Ten Conference Championships for seven consecutive seasons and built it into a perennial contender for the NCAA championship. The six-time Big Ten Coach of the Year, four-time NCAA Regional Coach of the Year and 1994 National Coach of the Year has led the Wolverines to 15 consecutive appearances at the NCAA Championships and has guided the team to two second-place finishes. She has helped the Wolverines win the Big Ten title, NCAA Regional title and make an NCAA Super Six appearance in the same season on six occasions.

Scott Sherman, Assistant Coach, 12th Year
Scott Sherman begins another superb season as an assistant coach with the women's gymnastics program. Scott's primary responsibilities with the team involve coaching on the vault and uneven bars, as well as working with the gymnasts tumbling. In addition, he concentrates his efforts toward recruiting.

In 1999, Scott was chosen as the National Assistant Coach of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women (NACGC/W). He became the first assistant coach at Michigan to earn that honor. In 1997 Scott was also named the NCAA Central Regional Assistant Coach of the Year. His recognition was just the second for a U-M women's gymnastics assistant coach.

Louis Robinson, Jr., Assistant Coach, 2nd Year
Louis is the newest member of the Michigan gymnastics coaching staff. But he brings to the table an extensive resume of coaching excellence. Louis was an assistant coach at the University of Florida for two seasons (2004-2005) and a volunteer assistant coach at Ohio State University from 2001-2004. He is also the founding owner of Midwest Gymnastics in Dublin, Ohio, where he coached 72 national qualifiers, six national champions, five Junior Olympic national team members and had 14 of his gymnasts receive NCAA Division I scholarships.
